Hello and welcome to Summer Counseling! I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Minnesota Board of Behavioral Therapy and Mental Health Clinical Supervisor. I received Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2004 and I have loved working with children and teens ever since! I started Summer Counseling (named for my favorite season and middle name!) in 2019 with the goal of supporting children and families, and I'm proud and how much we've grown over the last 5 years. I started my career working in residential treatment with children with severe emotional and behavioral challenges, and chose to continue in this specialty after seeing the growth and success these children obtained during treatment. My practice has evolved to include clinical supervision and is focused on working with children 6 and older, extending to young adults in transition. I use Adlerian Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to work with children and families, with a special interest in neurodivergence and family communication and support. Working from an action and change-focused perspective, I see children and teens with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Twice Exceptional children, anger and behavior disorders, parenting and communication, mood disorders, trauma and abuse, and children in transition because of divorce or custody changes. My goal is for families to have a comfortable experience in my play therapy office, where kids are free to express themselves and feel like they can kick off their shoes and feel heard and seen while parents get the support they need through challenging moments.

I am a proud Woodbury High School and University of MN Twin Cities graduate and has lived or worked in Woodbury for 30 years. During my free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and dogs Boomer and Oliver. Boomer and Jennifer have recently become a TDI certified therapy dog team and you might see us around the office! I enjoys all things Disney Marvel, and Star Trek, reading, being outside (when it’s over 50 degrees out!), and Pilates.
